Rafiqul Alam & Abida Sultana

Abida Sultana fell in love with Rafiqul Alam and later they got married in 1979. They came across each other for the first time in recording studio named International Studio, Dhaka where both of them were waiting for a duet recording on 21 February. The song was “Rakta Shimul Takta Palash Dilo Dak” probably it was 1974 from this very moment they become to know each other. Rafiqul frequently visited the musical academy where she was studying.

Thus two years passed away they entrenched themselves in deep love and finally they were united through marriage in 1979. They have only one son. His name is Farshad Alam.

She was asked about her daily life, different aspects of social, economic and political life in our country including her likings of different things. She has answered those questions in a very lucid and simple expression.

Her own father is her best personality. Internationally she considers Yasser Arafat the best dedicated leader and in Bangladesh she considers one leader, but she does not want to pronounce his name for some reason, the other Rabindranath, Shamsur Rahman and Henry Wordsworth are her poets and among the authors Sunil Gongopaddya is her best writer. Nah Hunnetay is her best book that she ever read.
